Kamakhya Temple
Kamakhya temple is very famous place to visit in Guwahati as well as it is also supposed one of the old Khasi sacrificial site. This temple is located on the Nilachal Hills and at a distance of 8 kilometers on the west side of this city.
This temple is also the main centre of Hinduism Shakti worshipers and Tantrics in Hinduism. Even though it is rebuilt in the year 1665, when it was destroyed by Muslim invaders, but then also it is believed that the templeorigins are very much older. This place is visited by many pilgrims from all over India, and mainly it is flooded on the Ambubasi Mela, which is held in the month of June or July each year.
There is also one more festival by name Rongaii Biliu and it is held in the end of April month each year across Assam. This temple is situated on the top of the hill and so one can enjoy verious beautiful views of city from here. One can also see the giant turtles in the ponds loacted nearby the temple.
Umananda Temple
Umananda temple is the Lord Shiva temple and there is an interesting thing about this Shiva temple is that, it is located on the Peacock Island and in the center of the river. It was built by a king named Ahom in the year 1594 and also it is supposed that the Parvati, Siva's consort, had stayed here.
One can reach sucha wonderful place by ferries, which are avialable regularly and these ferries leave Kachari and Umananda ghats in between 7 AM to 5 PM each day. Also on ecan visit some other religious and archeological centers of interest like the temples of Basista, which is supposed to be as the hermitage of Sage Vasistha.
It is very beutiful scenic spot and it has three mountain streams located nearby and Janardhana temple is from the tenth century, and it is loacted in the heart of this city. There is an image of Buddha, which seems as a blend of Hindu as well as Buddhist features.
River Cruises
River cruises is the very interesting spot to see and daily fiver cruises depart from Northern Guwahati and Sulkheshwar Ghats or travel in style in the vessels of the State Government's Tourism Department.
Hajo
Hajo is a town situated across the river. This place is sacred to Hindus as well as Muslims and Buddhists. The Hayagriba Madhab Temple loacted here is supposed to have Buddhist relic. Very people believe that the Buddha attained Nirvana at this place. Hajo has Pau Mecca masjid, which is the reason for sacred to Muslims and thsi masajid was built by Pir Ghiasuddin Aulia.
This place is also beleived to be having the one quarter means pau of the holiness of the great mosque at Mecca. Also there is a large pond at the base of the stairway and one of Hajo's most well known residents - a giant turtle reside in it. This town is also very famous because of its serving bowls, bell metal work and plates.
Sualkuchi
An hour's drive away from Guwahati, this place is famous for its muga silk which is naturally golden coloured, and not dyed. Every household is involved with weaving of muga, endi or pat silk. It is also about 30% cheaper here than in Guwahati. Sualkuchi is accessible from the Machkowa bus station in Guwahati and is about 2 kilometer south of Hajo.
Madan Kadev
Madan Kadev is a temple is dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries and having erotic sculptures on it. It is located at a distnace of nearly 35 kilometers from Guwahati.
Chandubi Lake
Chandubi lake is one of the best picnic spot in thsi area and it has water sport, fishing as well as boating like facilities provided here. It is loacted at a distance of 64 kilometer from Guwahati.

Oarranga
Oarranga is at a distance of 93 kilometer from city and it is very close to border of Bhutan. Here Darranga hosts a yearly Bhutia fair in the season of the winter, nearly in the month of November to March each year and here one can see the Bhutias in their tradition wear of woolen clothes, along with musk, cows and horses.
Batadrawa or Bordowa
Batadrawa or Bordowa is at a distnace of 134 kilometer from city and it is the birthplace of Shri Shankaradeva, who was influential 16th century philosopher thinker and brought about a resurgence of Vaishnavism in Assam. There is also a Tourist Lodge, which is taken care by Directorate of Tourism, Government of Assam at Nagaon.

Bhairabkunda
Bhairabkunda is loacted on the border of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh and at a distance of 137 kilometer. This is a breathtaking beautiful spot in Assam.
Sonal Rupa Wildlife Sanctuary
Sonal Rupa Wildlife Sanctuary is loacted at a distnace of 44 kilometer from city Tezpur. One can see tigers, buffaloes, hog deer and swamp deer here.
Orang Wildlife Sanctuary
Orang Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the north bank of Brahmaputra river and it is rich in bird life, both indigenous as well as migratory. This sanctuary also have bears, wild buffaloes, fishing cats, pangolins, swamp deers, capped langur, rhinoceros and tigers.
